'''Hurricane Stephen''' was a category five hurricane that struck the [[Seally Islands]] during the 1982 hurricane season. It caused well over 9 billion in damage.

==History==
Hurricane Stephen was first classified as Tropical Wave 23-18 moving north in July 1982. By July 25th, it was heading towards warm waters, 100 miles from Iceland.

On July 27th, TR 23-18 had evolved into a Category 1 Hurricane Stephen, 88 miles from Iceland. The surrounding waters were above 80° F, and the storm was gathering strength. By nightfall, it was a category two. That night, a high pressure system blocked off the predicted path of the hurricane, causing it to turn west. It was sucked into the [[Iceland air current]], where it was raised to a category 3. Soon enough, it was on a straight path towards Iceland.

Now a category 4, it was only 37 miles from Seally's shores. Another high pressure system was sitting over Iceland, giving it the likely chance to hit [[Seally]]. For a short period efore making landfall on Iceland, it became a Category 5.

Weakened back to a Category 4, Stephen struck Iceland with extreme strength. Iceland, then a rural area, was almost completely destroyed.

It turned sharply towards Seally. By the time it had left Iceland, it was a healthy Category 5. It traveled through the warm waters before making landfall at the 59 Bridge in south Seally. The huge storm roared across the manmade island, before exiting through the downtown area.

Later, Hurricane Stephen dissolved on August 3rd.

==Evacuation==
Mandatory evacuations were in affect by the 28th of July in Iceland and the 29th in Seally. [[Air Seally]] cut its rates by 90 to 97% to help the evacuation. 300 citizens refused to leave, and were later stranded on a railway bridge to escape the flooding.

Out of the 80,000 residents and tourists in Seally at the time, 79,700 evacuated. I think Paige coppied this

==Impact==
The hurricane was easily the worst natural disaster in Seally's history. Almost every building in the city was destroyed. Flooding from the storm was up to 13' deep, yet the city dried out fairly quickly.

An estimated $9,000,000,000 was done in damage to the city. Seally Rail reported and extra $6,000,000 to its property. deez nuts. -get off the internet.

The [[Central Building]] suffered an enormous gash in its structure, which was estimated at being 250 feet long. It was caused by a piece of steel that was picked up from the [[Seally Rail]]'s storage area and flung into the building. Seally Rail's bridge was coated with debris, yet wasn't cracked or faulted in any areas.

As a result, the island was closed to all people except government officials and re-construction workers. The island was re-opened to citizens only on September 1, 1982. International flights out of [[Seally International Airport]] commenced on September 23. The entire city was "rebuilt" by December 1982, only a few months after the storm.
