Matthew Jordson Burgess, better known as Jordson Burgess (February 19, 1809 — May 28, 1845) was a Dragoonish soldier who fought in the Battle of Authonome during the 1830s. A county in Abercame and a county in Zinrico were named for him, as well as the town of Burgesstown, located in the Zinrico county.

Burgess passed away in May 1845, and is buried in Bob, Zinrico (the county seat of Burgess County).
