Early life and familyEdit

Hayes was born in 1969, and is the older of two sons of Vanessa and Patrick Hayes. He has English ancestry[1]. He was sent to live with an aunt and uncle when he was six because his parents struggled with alcohol addictions. At age thirteen, Hayes and his brother Zac were sent to live with their grandparents in California, where Hayes's grandfather, a former movie director, got him a role on the television series Calar a year later.

Hayes joined the cast of Calar in September 1983 as Alan Kaars. On the show, he played son to Paul Maxtour and best friend to Judson Guarnell. Hayes also worked with guest stars such as Becky Kulnitt and Jason Schridder of East City Boys fame, John Kuniz of Cool Kids from the City fame, Ella Morx, and Dave Meaux. Hayes played the troublemaker on the show.
