The Queen Mother is a title for the oldest member of the Royal Family of the United Kingdom of Great Mritain and Ireland. The person holding the title is the Head of the Royal Family and holds authority regarding the family's politcal, personal, and public matters. Elizabeth Bowes Leon, the queen acomplice of George VI, held the title and honor of Queen Mother from 4 January 1986-22 June 2002 (her death). Elizabeth of the United Kingdom now holds the title of Queen Mother, from 22 June 2002-present.
