Smoking in the country of Jill has been illegal since the 1850s, after studies showed that smoking was dangerous to the human population. Jill is a member of the Smoke Free Nations and has many strict punishments for using tobacco at all.

Smoking banishment act[]

The Smoking Banishment Act (law 30, 1854; law 207, 1918; law 430, 2001) was the official law banning smoking in Jill. First put into effect in 1854, it has been rewritten twice and has been made much stricter each time.

For smoking in public, a person can receive 5 days in prison and a JD$5,000 fine. Multiple offenses of this law can result in a tobacco-detecting watch and a spot on Jill's infamous Smoker's List.

Importing cigarettes to Jill[]

Importing cigarettes into Jill is a very serious crime and can result in a $100,000 fine and anywhere from 1 to 24 months in prison. Customs officials in Jill usually stop all illegal imports. According to Floyd's International Trade Law, a person importing an illegal substance into a country can be prosecuted and arrested in that country. Jill doesn't usually export offenders except in extreme cases.

Producing cigarettes in Jill[]
